UPSC IES Exam 2023

UPSC has released the latest notification for the central government economic services. Those who are from an economic background can apply for this government job.

Union Public Service Commission conducts a national UPSC IES/ISS Exam. It is for economics students only. After clearing this exam you will become a government Indian Economic Service Officer serving in Financial Ministry.

Application submission will start on 19 April 2023, which means It has already started.

What is IES Exam eligibility?

All candidates are advised that carefully read this article and get all the details about the eligibility criteria for the UPSC IES exam.

Nationality

The candidate must be an Indian Citizen. The citizens of Nepal, Bhutan, And Tibe refugee can also apply for this UPSC IES exam but there is some sort of condition you have to fulfill before applying.

Tibetan refugees who came before 1st January 1962 can apply for UPSC IES Exam.

Age Limit

The minimum age for the UPSC IES exam is 21 years old only. If the candidate has attained 21 years of age is eligible for this exam.

If the candidate has attained the age of 30 years is not eligible for the UPSC IES exam. It means the maximum age for this is 30 years if the candidates are not from the reserved categories. Because there is a relaxation for the reserved categories.

If candidates come from the scheduled cast or scheduled tribes they shall maximum of five years of relaxation in the eligibility criteria. It means for SC/ST maximum age is 35 years only.

There will be a maximum of three years relaxation if the candidates belong to OBC (other backward classes ), which means the maximum age will be 33 years only. And also for defense services persons disabled during operations.

There will be up to five years relaxation of for the ex-serviceman including commissioned officers ECOs/SSCOs who have given at least five years of military service as on 1 August 2023.

UPSC has reservations for the disabled categories in the UPSC IES exam which is very important for inclusive development. There will be a maximum of 10 years of relaxation in the age limit to apply for the UPSC IES exam.

  • Blindness and low vision
  • Deaf and hard of hearing
  • Locomotor Disabilities including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims, and muscular dystrophy
  • Autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability, and mental
    illness
  • multiple disabilities from amongst persons under clauses (a) to (d)
    including deaf-blindness.

Educational Qualification

A candidate for the Indian Economic Service must have obtained a Post-Graduate Degree
in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics from a University
incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational
Institutes established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or a Foreign University approved by the Central Government from time to time.

A candidate for the Indian Statistical Service must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree
with Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics as one of the subjects or a Master’s degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutes established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or a Foreign University approved by the Central Government from time to time

Physical Standards

You have to fulfill all the physical standards for the UPSC IES or ISS exam. The standards are given in the rules and regulations of the UPSC IES/ISS 2023. Application fee

UPSC IES/ISS application fee is 200/- for Unreserved categories and Other backward classes (OBCs) males only.

There is an exemption (0/-) in fee for the reserved categories which are SC/ ST and Persons with Disabled and females of all categories.

The Last date for application submission is 9th May 2023, You are advised to apply before the last date. Do not wait for the last date, there can be some issues with the server on the last day due to heavy traffic on the website.
