The James Webb Telescope is a space-based observatory designed to be the  successor to the Hubble Space Telescope. It has been under development  for over 20 years.

The telescope is named after James E. Webb, who served as the second administrator of NASA from 1961 to 1968.

The JWST has a primary mirror that is 6.5 meters in diameter, which is more than twice the size of Hubble's primary mirror.

The telescope is designed to operate in the infrared part of the  spectrum, which will allow it to see through dust clouds and study the  early universe.

The JWST will be launched on an Ariane 5 rocket from French Guiana and  will be positioned at a distance of approximately 1.5 million kilometers  from Earth.

Another major milestone in the quest to better understand our universe and the galaxies within it has been made by a team of international astronomers using new data from the James Webb Space Telescope.

The JWST is expected to revolutionize our understanding of the universe,  with the ability to study the first galaxies that formed after the Big  Bang,

According to a press release from the European Space Agency, astronomers discovered what is now believed to be the four oldest known galaxies ever to be recorded.

Light from the galaxies has taken over 13.4 million years to reach Earth, which means their existence can be dated back to just 400 million years after the Big Bang.

Hubble studied the Ultra Deep Field for 20 years “Hubble studied the deep field for more than 20 years, but the telescope was always limited in what it could detect,” Kluger wrote.
